Ecommerce website development for stores that want more orders and less admin

A good online store does two jobs. It makes buying easy on a phone, and it gets each order from checkout to the packing bench without anyone retyping it. Our ecommerce website development covers both: product and checkout pages built to sell, on Shopify, WooCommerce or a custom build, with payments, shipping, stock and accounting connected behind the scenes. We're a Gold Coast team building stores for businesses across Australia.

№ 01Lost sales

Where online stores lose sales

Most stores don't have a traffic problem. They have a leaky checkout. Here's the receipt for the sales that walk out the door.

Your online store

Tax invoice · Sales that got away

  • Shipping costs appear at the last step

    Cart left

FIX Show shipping early, or set a clear free shipping threshold.

  • Checkout forces people to create an account

    Cart left

FIX Guest checkout, with an account offered after payment.

  • Product pages crawl on mobile data

    Bounce

FIX Compressed images, fewer apps and a lean theme.

  • Photos and details don't answer the question

    Bounce

FIX Sizes, materials, delivery times and returns next to the button.

  • Their preferred way to pay isn't there

    Cart left

FIX Cards, wallets and the buy now, pay later options your customers expect.

  • Categories and products don't show in Google

    Never found

FIX Clean categories, unique copy and product schema.

Every one of these is fixable, and most are cheaper to fix than buying more traffic.

№ 02Order trip

Follow an order through the store

An ecommerce build is judged by the whole trip, not the home page. Scroll to follow one order from the first tap to the delivery.

  1. 01 Browse

    Found and browsed

Category pages that rank in Google, load fast and let people filter by what matters: size, colour, price, stock.

  2. 02 Product

    Product page

Big photos, the details people ask about, delivery times and reviews beside a button that's always in reach.

  3. 03 Cart

    Cart

Shipping shown early, upsells that make sense and no surprises, so the cart becomes a checkout.

  4. 04 Checkout

    Checkout and payment

Guest checkout, address lookup and the payment options your customers already use.

  5. 05 Pack

    Picked and packed

The order lands in your admin with stock updated and a shipping label ready to print.

  6. 06 Deliver

    Shipped and followed up

Tracking emails, the invoice in your accounting software and a review request once it arrives.

№ 03Platforms

Shopify vs WooCommerce vs custom

We aren't tied to one platform, so we recommend the one that fits your products, your team and your budget. Here's the honest version.

  • This way up · Best for

    Most retail stores

    Shopify

Hosted, secure and easy for your team to run, with a huge library of apps. You pay Shopify a monthly plan plus any apps.

Watch forApp fees add up, and unusual pricing or checkout rules can hit limits.

  • This way up · Best for

    Content-heavy brands

    WooCommerce

Runs on WordPress, so your store and your content live together and you control the hosting. Great for stores that publish a lot.

Watch forMore upkeep: hosting, updates and security need looking after.

  • This way up · Best for

    Trade and complex rules

    Custom build

For wholesale portals, per-customer pricing, subscriptions or products the platforms can't model without hacks.

Watch forBigger upfront investment, scoped as custom software.

Already on a platform that's working? We'll improve what you have rather than push a rebuild.

№ 04Back office

The back office, connected

The admin behind each order is where small stores lose hours. We connect the store to the tools you already use, so orders move on their own.

  • Payments

Card gateways, digital wallets, buy now pay later

Checkout options your customers trust, with payouts reconciled cleanly.

  • Shipping

    Australian carriers and label tools

Live rates or flat rules, labels printed from the order, tracking sent automatically.

  • Accounting

    Xero, MYOB

Sales, fees and GST land in your books without anyone keying them in.

  • Stock

    Inventory and point of sale

One stock count across the website, the shop floor and the markets.

  • Email

    Newsletters and abandoned cart flows

Reminders that bring back half-finished orders and welcome emails that earn a second one.

№ 05Found and fast

Ecommerce website design that ranks and loads fast

Good ecommerce website design isn't only about looking premium. Every product and category page is a chance to show up in Google, and every extra second of loading costs sales on a phone.

So we build stores with search and speed baked in from day one, instead of trying to bolt SEO onto a finished store.

  • 01

    Category structure

Categories named the way people search, so each one can rank on its own.

  • 02

    Unique copy

Product and category descriptions written for your products, not pasted from the supplier.

  • 03

    Product schema

Price, stock and reviews marked up so Google can show them in results.

  • 04

    Speed

Optimised images, a lean theme and only the apps you need.

№ 07Investment

How much does an ecommerce website cost?

Every store is quoted after a project review, because a 20 product shop and a 5,000 product trade catalogue are different jobs. As a guide:

  • Online store

    From $7,500

    + GST, one-off

A custom-designed store on Shopify or WooCommerce for a focused catalogue.

    • Custom product, category and checkout design
    • Payments and shipping set up
    • Product loading support and variants
    • Ecommerce SEO foundation and tracking
    • Launch and training
  • Custom or complex store

    From $10,000

    + GST, scoped

For trade portals, custom pricing rules, subscriptions or deep system integrations.

    • Wholesale accounts and price lists
    • Accounting, stock and ERP connections
    • Custom checkout and order rules
    • Formal specification for large builds
    • Paid discovery for unclear scopes
  • Growth packages

    From $1,199

    a month + GST

Your store plus ongoing SEO, ads support, improvements and care in one monthly plan.

    • New store, redesign or improvements
    • Ongoing SEO and conversion work
    • Reporting on sales and traffic
    • Hosting and care where we host the site
    • 12-month initial term

Platform plans, apps, payment processing and carrier fees are paid to those providers directly. Ad spend is always separate.

№ 08Who you work with

The people who build your store

You deal with the same small team from the first review to launch day: the people designing your product pages are the ones connecting your shipping and testing your checkout.

Because we also run SEO, Google Ads and custom software, your store can grow into more without changing agencies. That might be a trade portal, an automated reorder flow or a Google Shopping campaign.

Ecommerce website development FAQs

Got a question about your own store? Request a project review.

Q01

How much does an ecommerce website cost?

Smaller stores on Shopify or WooCommerce start from $7,500 plus GST. Stores that need custom integrations, wholesale accounts or complex pricing are scoped as custom software from $10,000 plus GST, and bigger builds cost more. On top of the build, you pay the platform, apps and payment fees directly to those providers. We give you a fixed quote after a project review.

Q02

Should I use Shopify or WooCommerce?

Shopify suits most stores that want reliable hosting, simple admin and a big app library, and you pay a monthly plan. WooCommerce runs on WordPress and gives you more control over content and hosting, with more upkeep. If neither fits your pricing, trade or product rules, a custom build can. We recommend one after we understand your products and back office.

Q03

Can you move my existing store to a new platform?

Yes. We move products, customers and order history where the platforms allow it, and set up redirects so your Google rankings carry across. We plan the move around your quiet period and test orders before switching over.

Q04

Do you connect the store to shipping and accounting?

Yes. We connect stores to payment gateways, shipping and label tools, accounting software such as Xero or MYOB, email platforms and stock systems, using the options each platform supports. The aim is that an order flows from checkout to packing to invoice without anyone retyping it.

Q05

Can you build a B2B or wholesale store?

Yes. Trade stores often need customer accounts, price lists per customer, minimum orders, invoice payment terms and quick reorder. Depending on the rules, that sits on your ecommerce platform or moves into a custom build, and we'll tell you which after the review.

Q06

Will my online store rank in Google?

We build every store with a clean category structure, unique product and category copy, product schema, fast pages and proper redirects. That gives you a strong starting point. Ranking for competitive product searches usually takes ongoing SEO, which we offer as part of a Growth package.

Q07

How long does it take to build an ecommerce website?

A smaller store on Shopify or WooCommerce usually takes 6 to 10 weeks. Larger catalogues, migrations or custom integrations take longer. Loading products and photography is often the slowest part, so we plan it early.

Q08

Can I manage products and orders myself after launch?

Yes. You'll add products, change prices, run sales and manage orders from the store admin, and we train your team before launch. For bigger changes, new features or ongoing growth, we're a phone call away.
